Texas Technology Day at the Capitol

Executives from technology companies gathered in Austin on February 16th to communicate the needs of their industries to Texas legislators. The event was hosted by TechAmerica Texas, theTexas Healthcare and Biosciences Institute, the Texas Coalition for CapitalTechNet, and the Metroplex Technology Business Council.  The executives focused on seeking support for programs and policies that bolster job creation in emerging technology fields; encouraging the adoption of tax policies that spur research and development, innovation, and continued capital investment; and promoting policies that improve the quality of the educational system, enhancing the quality of the workforce, and increasing the ability of Texas to compete internationally.

After they listened to several speakers, including Representative Aaron Pena, the Chair of the House Technology Committee, they visited 60 offices of Texas representatives and senators. During these visits they provided the legislators a  one-page document, created by TCEA, explaining the need to fully fund the Technology Allotment for Texas schools.
